Open With Package lets you open documents with applications other than their creator.
You no longer have to drag those documents through multiple folders. You don't have to launch the application and then navigate through the open dialog. Just control-click on a document and choose from the applications on your disks that can open it in the pop up list.
You can save yourself whole seconds of searching each time you want to open an Adobe PhotoShop™ file in GraphicConverter for example (hey, this adds up). Only applications that can open all the documents in the selection appear in the popup menu, so it doesn't take long to find the application that you want.
How it works:
The package consists of an application and a contextual menu plug in. You have to run the application and choose "Find All Applications" from the file menu for the plug in to work.
This done, you can just control-click on a document or selection of documents and choose an application from the pop up menu.
There may also be sub-menus "Open With (Can open everything)" and "Open With Translation" containing other applications that can open the selection.
Price:
Open With costs $10 for a single user license. It is also possible to purchase a site license for $50 and a world-wide site license for $200.
The reason I have made it shareware? This is an expensive hobby. I hope to recoup some of the costs.

Requirements:
A power Macintosh running OS 8.0 or later. Contextual Menu Extension, SOM Objects for Mac OS in the extensions folder. At least 1 Mb of free memory is recommended.
On OS 8.0 and 8.1, Mac OS Easy Open is required.

You can pay for Open With using the Register program provided with the package, or by clicking on the relevant link in the about box of the application.

How to Install:
Just double-click on the installer, click to make the shareware message go away, and choose the destination folder, then click Install. You will be asked to restart your macintosh, you don't have to do it immediately. After you restart your mac, the Open With Application will run, and will ask you to set the preferences. Choose OK and Open With will find applications automatically. Open With Application will run and find applications every startup (there is an alias to the application in the startup items folder of your system folder). The preferences window will only appear the first time you run Open With Application.

Known bugs this version:
The installer places a folder named "Text Encodings" in the system folder of some non-US Systems. It is safe to delete this folder, as you already have one with a different name.
I will try to fix this in a future version.
Bugs fixed this version (2.0.1):
The installer now works on non-English systems. There is no code difference, if you have an English language system you do not need this update.
This product was previously named OpenWithCMPlugin, but that seemed a bit long, and not valid after I included an application. Now it is "The Open With Package", or "Open With" for short. That is why it starts at version 2.0 :).
